The origins of yoga date back to pre-Vedic Indian traditions, it is mentioned in the Rigveda, but most likely developed around the sixth and fifth centuries BCE, in ancient India's ascetic and śramaṇa movements. The chronology of earliest texts describing yoga-practices is varyingly credited to Hindu Upanishads. Hatha yoga texts emerged around the 11th century with origins in tantra.

Yogic therapy is success because it helps to create a balance between nervous  and endocrine  system which directly influences others system and organ.

For most of the people, yoga is simply a means of maintaining health and wellbeing in an increasingly stressful society. The underlying principles of yoga provide a real tool to combat social malaise. Yoga is far from  simply being physical  exercise, rather, it is an aid to establishing  a new way of life which embraces both inner and outer realities. The word yoga means unity or oneness. The unity is the union of the individual consciousness with the universal consciousness.

Yoga aims at bringing the different bodily functions into perfect coordination so that they work for the good of the whole body.
Though the practice of yoga, awareness develops of the interrelation between the emotional, mental and physical levels.
From the physical body, yoga moves onto the mental and emotional levels. Many people suffering from phobias and neuroses as a result of the stresses of everyday life. Yoga has been proven method for coping it.
