Vamana is the therapeutic procedure where forceful explusion of vitiated doshas occurs through mouth following administration of Vamanoushadhi. It is a process by which the contents of the stomach, including vitiated kapha and pitta will be thrown out of the body through mouth. It is a type of urdhwabhaka sodhana (clencing of upper part of the body.)

Person suffering from Rhinorrhoea, skin diseases including leprosy, acute fever, lung TB, cough, dyspnoea, spasm of throat muscles, adenitis, elephantiasis, indigestion, gastro-enteritis, poisons, toxicosis, burns, hemorrhagic disorders, ptyalism, nausea, anorexia, edema, anemia, stomatitis, vitiated breast milk, all types of kapha diseases etc.
